Smaller in size closely curled leaves and excellent frost tolerance. Kale is packed with Vitamins A, C, and K; and is a brilliant winter leaf vegetable, trendy in the UK.
Seeds can be sown outdoors in a well-prepared seedbed in the spring, in drills 0.5 cm deep and about 30cm apart, or in seed trays in early spring in an unheated greenhouse.
Thin out to 20 cm apart; when plants have 4 true leaves plant them into final position 70-100 cm apart. Water well and protect from slugs and birds.
Pick the leaves regularly from January to April; the centre stem may be pinched out to encourage side shoot growing.
