Iceberg Lettuce -Traper-900seeds
Iceberg lettuce “Traper” (Lactuca sativa var. capitata) is a lettuce cultivar fitted for all-year cultivation thanks to the fact that it does not produce flowering stalks. This medium early variety with a vegetation period of 75 – 85 days produces large and compact heads that weigh 500 – 800 g. These consist of densely packed, pale green, ruffled and crunchy leaves. Resistance to mildew is yet another advantage of the “Traper” lettuce variety. Iceberg lettuce is a delicious, low-calorie vegetable that may be consumed raw in salads or used as garnish. Numerous diets use it as one of the main ingredients, because it is rich in B vitamins, vitamin C, K, E, beta-carotene and minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron and kalium. Regular consumption of iceberg lettuce beneficially affects digestive processes thanks to the high pectin content in this vegetable.
“Traper” lettuce seeds may be sown from April to June directly onto the field. Repeating sow every 2 – 3 weeks guarantees continuous iceberg lettuce harvest all season long. Prick out the seedlings when they have reached the 3 – 4 true leaves stage, leaving 30 cm distances between them. Well developed lettuce heads can be harvested from June to September. Iceberg lettuce easily adjusts to the temperature conditions. It grows best on sandy-clay, fertile, permeable soils on sunny sites.
