Description
Summer Savory – Satureja Hortensis
Summer Savory is a small, bushy hardy annual that grows to 40cm, with slender stems and leaves used for flavouring. It is excellent with runner beans, and goes well with most peas, beans and lentil dishes.
Sow outdoors, in situ, in June/July, thin to 30 cm spacing. Shallow sowing is important. Harvest when 15 cm high and continue all summer. Do not allow it to flower as the leaves lose flavour, although the flowers are attractive to bees.
